The Vocus History

Vocus was born out of a collection of true Australian success stories all brought together under one roof to create a true challenger telco. Some of our brands are house hold names and others well known in the business sector, but all in all Vocus is the telco doing things their way.

iPrimus was one of the first true broadband challengers. Families around Australia trust iPrimus to deliver fast, reliable broadband, home phones and mobiles.

The iPrimus network provides nationwide coverage through its own backbone network with facilities across Australia. iPrimus operates its own fibre network in the five major capital cities, delivering a range of direct-connect services and is actively connecting customers to the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Dodo is one of Australia’s leading cost-conscious challenger brands.

A provider to individuals and families, Dodo provides easy-to-use and understand mobile, fixed voice and data products Australia-wide and power and gas in selected states.

The 48 Hour Rule

Empowerment, in our opinion, is paramount to the success of simply getting stuff done and being an awesome place to work.

We have a “48-hour rule”, which empowers team members to make a decision or change within their team without having to wait days/weeks for a response from their colleagues. We are all busy and have a long to do list, but if you have tabled your idea with your team and have considered all the possible outcomes as being beneficial to Vocus, then we encourage our team members to make a decision that “makes the boat go faster”!

In 2016 we unshackled our organisation from the traditional performance review process. Instead we encourage a ‘choose your own adventure’ opportunity for team members and their managers to work together to identify what really motivates them to perform and grow.

Giving Back

At Vocus, taking a sustainable approach to business is an underlying theme in our values and goals, which include treating each other and our customers with respect. Our sustainability strategy is to Get Involved, Give Back and Make a Difference, which we do through our charitable partnerships but also through activities organised by our dedicated team members.

All team members are entitled to two paid volunteering days each year and we coordinate a number of opportunities around the country to make it easy for the team to give back to the community.
